This tray adapter can be used in two ways:
1. As a service tool – Perfect for technicians who move from vehicle to vehicle and want a cleaner oil change process.
2. As a permanent installation – It can be secured in place using a few small spots of silicone, epoxy, or super glue. If installing permanently, thoroughly clean the area before applying any adhesive to ensure proper adhesion.
The factory design has a second opening at the rear of the drain tray that often causes oil to collect and spill instead of flowing cleanly out the front where it is intended to drain. As a result, oil can run down onto the power steering assist module and other components. If the area is not cleaned thoroughly after service, residual oil may continue to drip onto the customer's driveway or garage floor long after the oil change is complete.
This adapter eliminates that problem by directing the oil where it belongs, creating a much cleaner oil change process. It also helps reduce customer complaints related to oil spots on the ground after service. In many cases, customers may assume a shop left something loose or performed the service incorrectly when the real issue is simply the factory drain tray design.

For cleanup, simply wipe the adapter out with a rag. If desired, a small amount of brake cleaner on a rag can be used, but there is no longer a need to flood the area with an entire can of cleaner thanks to the improved oil control provided by the adapter.
If using the adapter as a temporary tool rather than a permanent installation, simply remove it after use, wipe underneath the area, and clean as needed. A small amount of brake cleaner may be used as an extra precaution, but in most cases it is not necessary. Ultimately, the choice is yours based on your preferred service procedure.
